via flickr.com
Minto Eye Hospital, built in 1913 is one of the oldest speciality eye hospitals in the world. The Ophthalmic hospital is located on AV Road, Chamrajpet, Bangalore. It is affiliated to the Bangalore Medical college and Research Institute (BMCRI), and is an institution of national importance*.
The hospital offers world class technology at highly subsidized rates to the poor and at affordable charges for others. Vitreo- retina, cornea, glaucoma, squint, oculoplasty, uvea, community ophthalmology are the ophthalmic subspecialities functioning at the hospital. As part of BMCRI, Minto Ophthalmic Hospital is providing world class training to the undergraduates, post graduates and fellows in superspecialities of ophthalmology.
I had the opportunity to visit the hospital and I found it as one of the cleanest and well maintained Government hospital I have ever visited. The dedicated Doctors and staffs are truly diligently working towards fulfilling the hospital mission to eradicate blindness, empower young Ophthalmologists with latest knowledge & skills and excel in patient care and resource management.
